2009 White Water Rafting Trip

Sponsored by the Kewanee Schools Foundation

The Kewanee Schools Foundation is offering an exciting eleven day river trip down the Salmon River in Idaho in early August, 2009.  The Salmon River, also know as “The River of No Return”, is one of the most beautiful and exciting rivers for white water in the American West.

A maximum of twenty-three people will be scheduled for the trip.  The group will fly to Boise, Idaho and will stay overnight in Stanley, Idaho before beginning their six day river trip down the middle fork of the Salmon River.

“The Middle Fork is proof that people were meant to take river trips.  100 miles of pristine river blessed with clear water, hot springs, tumbling side streams, fine fishing, and excellent rapids make The Middle Fork the classic mountain river.  Starting out as a creek-like stream in a heavily forested canyon, The Middle Fork grows into a full fledged river as it pounds its way through the sheer, rock-walled Impossible Canyon.  A river experience which seems too short but which lasts a lifetime,” said John Busick, Director of the Certified Trip Provider.

The group will travel in 18 ft. rubber rafts, sleep in tents and sleeping bags, enjoy great food prepared by the licensed river guides, and have time to fish, relax, and explore along the way.  For those living in Illinois, we will fly from the Peoria Airport, but those living elsewhere may elect to simply meet us in Boise at the Boise Airport.  Following the river trip, we will stay overnight at a hotel in Salmon, Idaho and be bussed back to Boise, where the group will have a free night to visit Boise before spending the night there prior to our flight home the next day.

Children and adults of all ages are welcome to participate in the trip.  It makes for a wonderful way to spend your summer vacation and will provide an experience you and your children will remember for a lifetime.  A planning party will be scheduled for later this summer, but if you wish for more details, simply contact us.  We have brochures and other information available in our office.

The following is a proposed schedule of the trip.  Please keep in mind that any of this is subject to change.  We are currently in the initial planning stages but this should give you an idea of what to expect.
