Wine Tasting Parties

The first wine tasting party, "Wines Around the World" was sponsored by the Kewanee Schools Foundation on April 8, 2006 from 6:00-7:30 pm at Midland Country Club.  Delicious food was served by the Midland Country Club staff and many wines provided by Boswell Distributing were sampled from various countries  It was a huge success. 

The second wine tasting party, "Entertaining with Wine" was sponsored by the Kewanee Schools Foundation on May 5, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Midland Country Club.  Guests sampled different wines that accompanied various dishes including meat and poultry, bread and pasta, various cheeses, and desserts including a chocolate fountain!  The wine was again provided by Boswell Distributing of Kewanee. 

The third wine tasting party, "Wining & Dining With Class", was held on Saturday, May 10th at 6:00 PM at Kewanee Dunes (formerly Midland Country Club).  The evening began with hors d'oeuvres and wine sampling followed by a champagne toast and dinner which included salad, baguettes from The Bishop Hill Bakery, sirloin, tilapia, twice-baked potato, and steamed broccoli.  The meal was concluded with a dessert bar which featured a chocolate fountain, fruit pies from The Bishop Hill Bakery, and homemade mini cheesecakes with various fruit toppings.  The event was a huge success and enjoyed by the 100 guests who attended.  The fourth wine tasting party has been tentatively scheduled for Mother's Day weekend again in 2009, Saturday, May 9th.  Check back here next Spring for details!

Charity Auctions

The 1st Annual Gala Charity Auction, "Enhancing your life, Enhancing our schools" was sponsored by the Kewanee Schools Foundation on February 25, 2006 at 7:00 pm.  It was held at the National Guard Armory in Kewanee.  Good's Furniture donated a large variety of items to be auctioned off.  Many other donations were made from various businesses in Kewanee and beyond.  Refreshments were provided for all who attended; delicious pies were provided by Bishop Hill Colony Bakery, cake and pop was provided by Wal-Mart Supercenter, and a variety of flavored coffees was provided by Country Morning Coffee.  The event was a huge success and raised about $17,000 for improvements to Kewanee Schools!  Our most profitable fundraising event yet!  Thanks to all who were involved in this great auction! 

The 2nd Annual Gala Charity Auction, "Investments Today, Leaders Tomorrow" was sponsored by the Kewanee Schools Foundation on April 21, 2007 at 5:00 pm.  It was held at Kewanee High School.  Good's Furniture again donated a wide variety of furniture.  This year all of the schools in District #229 contributed items for the silent and live auctions.  Pulled Pork Sandwiches were prepared and sold by the FFA.  Homemade cookies were sold by the FCCLA.  Various raffles were held.  It was bigger and better than the first auction.  It was another huge success and raised about $20,000 for improvements to Kewanee Schools!  Thanks for all of the wonderful gifts and support that made this auction a wonderful event!

The 3rd Annual Gala Charity Auction was held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 11:00 PM.  The event was a huge success and included special guest, The Last Chief Illiniwek, food provided by Mr. & Mrs. Bob Kunz, Pizza Hut, and the KHS FCCLA chapter.  Mark Guthrie and Bill LeSage were auctioneers.  Each school in District #229 had a booth displaying student art work and other information about the schools.  A variety of raffles were held.  The event brought in about $18,000 for Kewanee Schools.  Thank you again for all of your help and support!  The 4th Annual Auction has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 28th at KHS.  Check back here next spring for more details!

Special guest appearance by Mr. Sam Leach, promoter of the original Beatles. 

American English has toured all over the world and has appeared on all major television networks, ABC, NBC, WGN, FOX, CBS, Telemundo, and CNN. They will bring to the stage of the Petersen Auditorium the complete Beatles’ experience from their early years throughout their career together. According to Sam Leach, the original Beatles promoter from Liverpool, “American English are the Beatles incarnate. They are the best Beatles show on the planet”.
