$1 For Every Year Fund: Donate $1 for every year you have been out of high school. For example, at your 10th Class Reunion, donate $10; 20th Class Reunion, donate $20; 30th, donate $30; and so on. What better way to commemorate your reunion with KHS classmates, than to donate to the school you developed so many fond memories at?
Learning Resources Materials Fund: Funds donated to the Learning Resources Materials Fund will be used by any of the six Kewanee Community Schools to purchase library books, reference materials, teaching aids, and learning equipment. All items purchased will identify the donor and all donations of $250 of more will be recognized on a special plaque at each school where the gift is designated.
Memorial Garden Project: In 2001, the Foundation assisted in the landscaping of the exterior of the Petersen Auditorium. The success of this project encouraged the Foundation to create the Memorial Garden Project. this was initiated in 2002 with landscaping plans for Kewanee High. Over time, as donations are received, Kewanee High School will be totally re-landscaped. Donations earmarked for other schools within the district will be used to enhance landscaping at these schools as well. A gift of $150 will provide recognition on the Memorial Garden Plaque in the Petersen Auditorium Lobby and funds will be used directly for this project.
Central School Clock Tower Fund: The bell in the clock tower at Central School has been silent for nearly twenty years. Several alumni of Kewanee High School and Central Jr. High school have joined the effort to provide funds to restore operation of both the bell and the clock in the tower at Central Jr. High. Donations if any amount will help us achieve this goal.
The Steinway Piano Project: The Kewanee High School Song was written on the 1912 Steinway Grand Piano now located in Petersen Auditorium. Several donors led by Ms. Joan McGrath provided funds to rework the mechanical mechanism in 2001. The exterior of the piano now needs to be refinished and restored to assure continued service for many years to come and preserve this local treasure for generations to come. Estimated total cost - $10,000. During Summer and Fall 2006, about $4,000 was spent by the Foundation to re-string the piano and make other enhancements.
